Simulated Game Shooting

- The perfect way to get in some pre-season practice! -

Simulated game days provide us with opportunities to get our guns out through the summer months. They are high adrenaline, filled with challenging targets in an enjoyable and social setting, as well as offering very worthwhile practice for the coming game season. Whether you are an experienced game shot, or perhaps someone who enjoys a regular round of clays at your local shooting ground, simulated game days offer such a wide variety of targets that there is always something for everyone.

The benefits of simulated game days are endless, from boosting your confidence to speeding up your reactions. Guns often feel that they can take more challenging targets than they usually would on a game day as there are no concerns about pricking a clay. The stream of clays just keeps coming, meaning there is no time to overthink, and this often produces the best natural shooting.

Simulated days also act as a valuable first taste of what a game day is like, offering a glimpse into the layout and etiquette of a day on the peg. This can be a wonderful experience for anyone considering booking their first game day, or if you have friends or family members that just want to see what it is all about. It is also an affordable way of spending a day in the field with the large volume of targets offering fantastic value for money.

Based throughout the UK,  you can choose a location and quarry type that is both convenient and desired by you, from high pheasant to driven grouse or partridge (or even a mixture of them all!). Your backdrop will always be beautiful, picturesque countryside, from rolling hills to woodland and lush meadows, creating an immersive in-field experience that you rarely get from a shooting ground. Working with the topography of the land, and with the help of some cleverly designed traps, drives can be varied to replicate all different types of game shooting, from soaring pheasant to agile grouse.

The day is not just about the shooting, hospitality plays an important part, a welcome rest from the high intensity of the drives and a chance to socialise and get to know your fellow guns. Simulated days tend to include light refreshments on arrival, delicious elevenses as a mid-morning energy boost and a luxurious lunch, in a very similar format to a classic game shoot.

The benefits of a Simulated Game Day are many and varied, such as:

  • • Great practice for the game season
  • • An opportunity to meet new friends
  • • An introduction to the layout and etiquette of a game day
  • • A variety of targets to simulated different game birds
  • • Suitable for Guns of all experiences and abilities
  • • Wonderful hospitality
  • • A range of beautiful locations
  • • Fantastic value for money
  • • Shoot as much or as little as you like
  • • Relaxed, friendly atmosphere

William Powell Sporting are delighted to offer simulated days for teams of six to eighteen guns across the majority of the UK and as a result, if indeed shooting a simulated day might be of interest, please don’t hesitate to contact one of the team who will be delighted to assist.
