CALL TO ACTION: Ask your MSP to debate `The Contribution of Rural Estates to Scotland’s Wellbeing Economy`, on Tuesday 7 November.
The Wellbeing Economy is a different way of looking at the economy, going beyond traditional measures like GDP and considering much wider measures on Environment, Communities, Health, Poverty and more. It’s all about making economic growth a means to achieve social outcomes and a healthy planet, rather than an end in itself, and the Scottish Land & Estates report found that our sector – you – make huge contributions to this.
It’s at this point that we ask you for your help...
To ensure a good turnout of MSPs at the debate – and to maximise awareness of the massive contribution Estates make to Scotland’s Wellbeing Economy, we are asking you to take the following actions:
Email your MSPs and ask them to participate in the debate on 7th November - there are many demands on MSPs time when they are in Parliament, so it’s vital you – their constituent – apply gentle pressure, encouraging them to participate. Find their email address on the following website: www.parliament.scot/msps. SLE will provide all MSPs with a briefing ahead of the debate.
Tell your MSP what your Estate does. How many people do you employ? How many families do you provide housing for? Do you have any popular walks or leisure offering on your land? What can you tell them about nature and wildlife on your estate? Do you produce food? Support local supply chains? Do you plant trees? Restore peatland? How much? Tell your MSPs about this when you ask them to speak in the debate!
Share our report with your MSP and on social media. If you are on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter or other platforms, please use the link in the bio to view the report. Don’t forget to tag your MSPs and @ScotlandEstates in your social media posts!
Finally, you will be able to watch the debate at www.scottishparliament.tv from about 5pm on Tuesday 7 November.
Thanks in advance for your support.
