The Salperton Estate is one of the Cotswolds’ best-kept secrets, situated ten miles east of Cheltenham. The Houghton family have spent the last two decades restoring the house and the whole estate back to its former glory. This impressive Estate hosts one of the country’s most celebrated partridge shoots and during the season guests are able to enjoy the exquisite beauty, challenging sport and excellent hospitality on offer.

The shoot covers 4,000 acres, allowing the Salperton team to present a fantastic quality of shooting to meet the requirements of all teams from screamingly high partridge to the more manageable drives for the less experienced teams, the quality of birds is always just right, no matter your experience.

The perfect day at Salperton starts with tea, coffee and bacon rolls, this is followed by the day’s briefing to discuss the order of the day, before drawing pegs and meeting loaders before shooting begins.

The day is broken by elevenses in the field and at lunchtime, an impressive feast is served in the lodge, which is the epitome of contemporary Cotswold style. Salperton unabashedly celebrates the best local, fresh ingredients, which are all prepared by an in-house chef in the lodge’s state-of-the-art kitchen. The dining table comfortably seats up to twenty people and there are two capacious sofas by an impressive fireplace, all overseen by the resident moose, ‘Boris’.

Some guests extend their visit and book accommodation at Salperton House before or after the shoot. This works particularly well for parties who wish to shoot for two or three consecutive days or those that are visiting from overseas. Each team are waited on hand and foot by the house team from the moment they are greeted by the house manager on arrival.
