William Powell Schools Clay Competition

The William Powell Clay Shooting Competition returns to the Oxfordshire Shooting School on 1st May

After the success of the third William Powell Schools Competition in November 2018, we are delighted to announce that the William Powell Schools Clay Shooting Competition returns to the Oxfordshire Shooting School on 1st May 2019.  16 teams have already entered including last year’s winners. In 2018 Bloxham were the Senior High Team with a score of 191 out of 240, with Teddy Westaway-Christopher shooting 51/60, the best score of the day. Kings High Warwick were Ladies High Team with 143 out of 240, with Chloe Goulbourne shooting 44/60.

This springs event proves to be as popular and well contested as ever, we are pleased to welcome many new teams to the competition with Christ College Brecon, Warwick School and Bradfield College all trying to take the top spot.

The conditions were testing last November, a low sun and strong wind making the clays hard to read. The competition will consist of a 60 bird sporting layout shot over 8 stands. A red course will be shot by Seniors (15 to 19 year olds), and a blue course will be shot by the Juniors (under 15 year olds). Teams consist of four students from the same age category. The cost per team is £120 (inc VAT) and all team details must be received by April 24th.

Each team will be individual caddied around the course. Teachers, instructors and parents are more than welcome to join us throughout the day. Teams registration starts at 12pm with the competition commencing at 12:30pm.

We are hugely excited to be hosting such an event, which we hope will encourage young people into shooting.
