Combe Sydenham

A firmly established favourite, Combe Sydenham is a must-have pheasant shoot for any shoot portfolio. It was once home to Sir Francis Drake, famed sea captain but also skilled water engineer and a series of leats and ponds at the centre of the shoot are a testament to his designs for water supply.

Drives here provide consistent, technically difficult driven Pheasants from testing terrain, with every drive subtly different. Part of the Estate’s beauty is the combination of scenery, with the gun line standing in both open game crop and the complimenting woodland. Whilst you can expect a steady stream of high driven birds you may also see some Partridges and wild duck.

Signature drives are Folly, Eisengard, Bird’s Hill, and The Chair – although you can argue that there are many more!

The Combe Sydenham shoot lodge, although traditional, has a feeling of the class of an almost bygone era. The Estate’s in-house chef’s lunches here reflect this, describing the style as modern British mixed with classical French, with dishes such as delicate duck breasts served with a rich confit and cassoulet of the legs, wild sea bass baked with shrimp and samphire butter, and of course the famous truffled chicken!

William Powell Sporting is pleased to work with Combe Sydenham to offer outstanding sporting experiences throughout the season. if you would like to find out a more about shooting at Combe Sydenham, please do not hesitate in contacting our team.
